Magic Carpet® Launches First Conveyor Lift in 1990
Seeing the shortcomings of the rope tow and handle tow surface lifts of the day, founders of Denver-based Rocky Mountain Conveyor & Equipment (RMCE) developed the first conveyor ski lift in 1990. Close to two decades later, the company remains the industry leader.
The ski industry responded enthusiastically to this innovative technology, built on sound conveyor engineering and manufacturing techniques. So did the media. In 1994, the company’s “beginner’s ski lift” won “Colorado’s Most Innovative New Products” competition sponsored by the Denver Business Journal and Bank One.
Over the years, Magic Carpet® ski lifts have been installed in ski areas spanning eight countries over four continents. Almost 90 percent have been placed in North America.
In 1996, Magic Carpet Ski Lifts, Inc. emerged as its own company to focus exclusively on the winter sports market, providing an unmatched level of technology and customer service.
Magic Carpet enjoys the financial strength, experience and technological resources of RMCE, which has been in business since 1982. The company continues manufacturing for its North American customers at its centrally located facility in Denver.
In recent years, success in the winter sports industry led to customized installations at water parks, amusement parks and a variety of other transportation applications. Because of this, the company name was changed to Magic Carpet Lifts, Inc. to best reflect the ability to design and manufacture conveyors for all transportation needs.
